Wiesbaden Champions!

A great year for softball with an even better finish!!

Our end of the season tournament for our unit level teams wrapped up last week. We drew first place in the bracket due to the best season record. We came out with the mentality of not getting beat early like our mid season tournament. So the first three games weren't even close. We all got several hits a game that ultimately crushed our opponents. 4 games through and we were in the championship game. The other team that made it had the 2nd best record of the season and had battled through 4 games in one day to face off with us Saturday evening. They juumped on us early and hard but came up short the rest of the way as we battled back over 6 more innings to force extra innings for the first time this year. The game ended up going 9 innings (usually 7) with them taking it by one run.

As exhausted as we were from the sun and all the playing we still had to play one more as both teams now had one loss. This time it was our turn to jump out in front but the difference was we never looked back. We kept the lead the rest of the game and was crowned the 2009 Wiesbaden Softball Champs! At the award ceremony I was suprised to hear my name called when they announced the Most Valuable Player award. I knew I had a good tournament but didn't expect this. It was voted on by the sports directors and all the officials. What a great way to wrap up the season!!
