Finally

After two years of being promotable and 24 months of agony I finally saw my name on the promotion list that comes out every month. After missing the cutoff on numerous occasions I didn't know what to think when I saw that two others were picked up as well. For our MOS thats a big number since I think the Army has picked up 10 (maybe less) in the last year. So anyways, SGT (seargent, E5) Kersting is the new title. Yesterday was the first day wearing the chevrons (shown below) and almost every one that I knew who saw me noticed it right away. People recognize the 3 stripes alot more than the upside down teardrop I have been wearing. I now am part of the NCO (Non-Commisioned Officer) Corp which is considered the backbone of the Army and couldn't be any happier. Later in the day I was still answering the phone as 'Specialist Kersting', but I guess 4 years of saying that is a hard habit to break. Anyways, Thanks to everyone who has already congradulated me. This great year just keeps on getting better.........
