Full Schedule

I don't know what happened, two weeks ago I was watching TV from the time I got home from the gym until the time I went to bed, and now it seems the only thing I have time to watch is football early Monday morning (I get to sleep in an hour later to 3 AM because of daylight savings).

We played a double header tuesday night for basketball and the first game was against one of the better teams, we managed to keep it close for a while but then got blown out in the second half. This wasn't the reason but some guy tried to take a charge and moved in under me when I was in the air and my lower ribs landed squarely on his vertical elbow, which sent me to the ground in agony. It still hurts a week later and I might end up going to get it x-rayed, I can barely get to sleep because it is messing up my back too. The next game wasn't that close in the begining but we came back and made a game of it. The Base Newspaper got me for 18 points but it seemed like more than that. I had found my shot and did pretty well.

We won our first softball game since I joined the team on Wednesday night in dramatic fashion. Because of the before mentioned pain, I was put on the mound and made to pitch since the original guy wasn't there. This was my first time and I realized it was alot harder than it looked. We were down the whole game and finally came back in the last two innings to when it with a walk-off double in the 7th.

I passed my last two classes and then signed up for the Government II and History II. These are a little more challenging than last terms but they are a requirement and need to be done.

Oh and in my off time I guess I still work at the clinic. The CPT's wife had her baby so now he is back to his every other week schedule. An upcoming inspection has me staying later than normal and coming in earlier. I want to make sure they know I'm not just fooling around down here.

Sorry I haven't wrote in a while, I'll try to keep updating this thing as games and other events happen..

Getting closer to a promotion

For those of you who know the promotion system in the army, you know that when the points drop and you miss getting picked up by 20 points, you are either really close or they just picked up all they need for a while so you just missed out. Hopefully that latter is not the case. Either way I have been running ragged trying to complete college classes and improve my PT test, all of which goes towards promotions. Yesterday I took a big step in that by doing the best I've ever done on a PT test, I maxed my pushups and situps and did the best ever on my 2 mile run (13:29). Back to back 6:45 miles from a guy who's best ever one mile time was in junior high track (6:28). With the score I got from that plus the completed college classes I'll have thirty more points to turn in and that much closer to Seargent.

And in basketball too....

I met up with the same guy who asked me about softball in the gym as I was shooting baskets. After a couple of 1 on 1 games he asked if I wanted to play for their basketball team as well. We played my first real game since being in Japan last night. We did alright I guess for never playing together. This team comes together for fun and I think only two other guys have prior basketball history, so it was an intersting experiment. We made it to the second half(which I found out later that that is a rare thing) before we were mercy ruled.

Back in the Saddle..

Hanging around behind the barracks during the week meeting and talking to people got me the opportunity to get back on the softball field again. A guy from one of the active teams, asked if I wanted to play for their team, the Seabees ( the construction company in the Navy). With classes winding down and me being away from sports for about 3 months, I quickly jumped at the chance. We haven't won a game yet, but just getting back out there is good enough. This morning I woke up with burns on both by knees from diving for the ball and sliding into bases. Two of my little twos are completely bruised from colliding with another player making it difficult to walk and yet, and can't wait until our games next week, weird huh?
